Apple’s focus on producing foldable iPhones and iPads has been overshadowed by the launch of Vision Pro.
The Information reports that the company is working on two projects related to the iPhone prototypes that fold horizontally, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip devices.
The Information states that the company has no plans to manufacture a foldable iPhone in 2024 or 2025, making it unlikely. Additionally, there are no indications of an imminent release of such devices.
Despite their intention to create an iPhone that can be folded and has its own screen, The Information reported that engineers were unhappy with the design because of its potential for breakage.
The development of a thin folding screen device is also aimed at engineers, but the limitations of battery size and screen composition make it arduous.
As per The Information, Apple has engaged in negotiations with at least one Asian manufacturer to procure components for folding iPhones of varying sizes.
The engineers at Apple are reportedly working to minimize the fold in the center of the screen and design a hinge that keeps it upright when opened. This is according to reports.
